When you’re pissed off about your flight being delayed a couple hours on your way home from the holidays, some of these absolutely horrible experiences should make you feel better.
In 2011, a flight from D.C. to Ghana was turned around only a half hour in when two passengers got into a physical altercation. However, the plane was still too full of fuel to land so they had to burn time in the sky until it was light enough, with two F-16s following close behind.
A flight from Chile to Sydney was populated by a group of 26 Australian teens that all had caught a bug that hit just on take off. All of them spent the flight vomiting (and worse) until they reached Sydney, where paramedics greeted them.
A British flight managed to land in New York during 2010’s insane snowstorm, but the immigration officials had already gone home, citing bad weather, which forced the passengers to spend an additional and torturous 8 hours on their plane.
A 57-year-old man was forced to stand an entire flight, because his 400-lb. seatmate didn’t allow for much extra room. US Airways apologized but only refunded a sad 1/4 of the man’s ticket.
An incredibly drunk passenger on an Icelandair flight started to accost and even choke out passengers. The passengers all rallied together and subdued the drunk with duct tape until they arrived at their destination.
A flight from LA to Philadelphia had to make an emergency landing when a dog pooped in the aisle and for some insane reason the flight had no paper towels to clean it up.
A Duluth-bound flight had to turn back when the plane flew through a swarm of bees, clouding the windshield and causing a rancid smell throughout the cabin.
A drunk man on a flight to Atlanta told a woman to shut her baby up, and when she couldn’t oblige, he smacked the toddler right in the face. The 60-year-old maniac ended up with an eight-month prison sentence.
